Frequently Asked Questions

Here you’ll find answers to some of the questions we’re most often asked about who we are, what we do, and how we support pastors, churches, and organizations through our work at the Alabama Center for Pastoral Resilience.

General

Q: What is the Alabama Center for Pastoral Resilience (ACPR)?
A: We’re a leadership development and consulting organization that helps pastors, churches, and faith-based organizations build healthier systems and more resilient leaders. Our work blends practical coaching, systems thinking, and spiritual depth to strengthen those who serve others.

Q: Are you only for people in Alabama?

A: While we’re in Alabama—it’s in the name—we serve pastors, churches, and organizations across the country. Many of our cohorts and coaching engagements are offered virtually, and we regularly travel for on-site consulting, workshops, and retreats. Our goal is to meet leaders wherever they are, both geographically and in their ministry journey.

Q: Who do you serve?
A: We serve pastors, ministry leaders, church staffs, and faith-based organizations that want to lead with greater clarity, calm, and purpose. Whether you’re serving in a small rural congregation or a large multi-site church, our work scales to fit your context.

Participation & Logistics

Q: How do I get started?
A: Reach out through our contact page or email us directly at kent@acpr.consulting or immanuel@acpr.consulting. We’ll schedule a brief conversation to learn about your goals and recommend next steps.

Q: Do you offer both virtual and in-person options?
A: Yes. Our services can be delivered in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format, depending on your needs. We work with leaders and teams across the country in all three settings. While virtual and hybrid formats offer flexibility and accessibility, in-person engagement often provides a richer experience—fostering deeper connection, shared reflection, and meaningful dialogue.

Q: How much do your services cost?
A: Pricing depends on the type of service, group size, and level of customization. After our initial conversation, we’ll provide a clear proposal that matches your needs and budget.

Q: Who leads your work?
A: ACPR is led by Kent Michael and Immanuel Marsh, seasoned consultants and coaches who combine decades of ministry, organizational leadership, and systems theory experience.

Outcomes & Philosophy

Q: What kind of results can we expect?
A: Leaders and churches who work with ACPR often report:

  • Increased clarity and confidence in leadership decisions

  • Stronger relationships and healthier staff dynamics

  • Renewed energy and purpose in ministry

  • Less reactivity and more thoughtful response in challenging situations

  • Sustainable rhythms that help leaders last in their calling

Q: Is ACPR just for leaders in crisis?
A: Not at all. While we frequently walk with pastors through burnout, conflict, and transition, many leaders engage with us proactively—because they want to stay healthy and effective before crisis hits.

Q: What makes your approach different?
A: We don’t just hand out advice or quick fixes. Our work is grounded in Bowen Family Systems Theory, a proven framework for understanding how people and organizations function under stress. We help leaders think more clearly, not react more quickly.

Q: Is there a size or denomination requirement?
A: No. We work with leaders from a wide range of denominations and traditions—from small congregations to regional networks to national organizations. Healthy leadership is a universal need.

Q: Can you really help if we’re far away?
A: Absolutely. Whether you’re in Birmingham, Boston, or Boise, we can meet virtually or come to you. Geography doesn’t limit resilience; it just changes the time zone.

Q: How do I know if ACPR is the right fit?
A: If you value thoughtful reflection, honest conversation, and practical steps toward healthier leadership, then you’ll fit right in. Start by reaching out—we’ll help you discern if we’re the right partner for your goals.
